Poultry exhaust fans
Tunnel ventilation fans and cooling pads for poultry houses
Poultry exhaust fans pull air through the length of a poultry house so birds stay cool, dry and well ventilated. In a tunnel-ventilated shed, fans at one end draw outside air in through wet cellulose cooling pads at the other, cooling it on the way and moving it across the birds at a steady speed.
E-Cool supplies the complete fan-and-pad system: 32, 40 and 54 inch drop hammer exhaust fans with SS-304 blades, cellulose cooling pads in 7090 and 5090 grades, and PVC or aluminium pad framing with the water system.
Fan sizes
32, 40 and 54 inch poultry fans
| Size | Frame | Drive | Airflow | Pressure |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 32 inch | 800 mm | Belt and pulley | 18,000 m³/h | 80 Pa |
| 32 inch | 800 mm | Direct drive | 18,000 m³/h | 80 Pa |
| 40 inch | 1000 mm | Belt and pulley | 23,000 m³/h | 100 Pa |
| 40 inch | 1000 mm | Direct drive | 23,000 m³/h | 100 Pa |
| 54 inch | 1380 mm | Belt and pulley | 44,000 m³/h | 130 Pa |
| 54 inch | 1380 mm | Direct drive | 44,000 m³/h | 130 Pa |
The 54 inch fan is the usual choice for long broiler and layer houses; 32 and 40 inch fans suit smaller sheds, side-wall ventilation and hatcheries. Belt-drive models run on single or three phase; direct-drive models need no belt maintenance.
Sizing
How many poultry fans and how much pad area?
Fans: multiply the shed cross-section (width × average height, in m²) by the air speed you want over the birds and by 3,600, then divide by the fan airflow. For example, a shed 12 m wide and 3 m high at 2.5 m/s needs 12 × 3 × 2.5 × 3,600 = 324,000 m³/h, which is eight 54 inch fans.
Pads: divide the total fan airflow by the air speed through the pad and by 3,600. Pads are commonly designed for about 1.8 m/s through 150 mm pads or about 1.25 m/s through 100 mm pads, so 324,000 m³/h needs roughly 50 m² of 150 mm pad.
Target air speed depends on bird age, breed and your integrator's specification; these figures are a starting point, and our team checks the design for your shed.

Poultry Fans: common questions
Which fan is best for a poultry farm?
For long tunnel-ventilated broiler and layer houses, 54 inch drop hammer exhaust fans are the usual choice. 32 and 40 inch fans suit smaller sheds and side-wall ventilation.
How many fans does a poultry shed need?
Multiply the shed cross-section (width × height in m²) by the target air speed and by 3,600, then divide by the fan airflow (44,000 m³/h for a 54 inch fan).
What size is a 54 inch poultry fan?
Our 54 inch fan has a 1380 mm frame, is 400 mm deep, moves about 44,000 m³/h and weighs about 180 kg.
Do you supply cooling pads for poultry houses?
Yes. We make cellulose cooling pads in 7090 and 5090 grades and supply PVC or aluminium framing with the water system.
Which cooling pad thickness should I use?
150 mm pads give more cooling and suit hot regions and long houses; 100 mm pads suit smaller sheds and milder climates.
Can the fans run on single phase?
Yes. The belt-and-pulley models run on single or three phase.
Do you supply outside Maharashtra?
Yes. We supply poultry farms and dealers across India and export to Africa, the Middle East and Latin America.
